We will observe the Lord’s Table this Sunday. Roberto Coelho is our special guest.

The Scripture call to worship for this Sunday comes from Psalm 68:32-35 –

O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God;

sing praises to the Lord, Selah

to him who rides in the heavens, the ancient heavens;

behold, he sends out his voice, his mighty voice.

Ascribe power to God,

whose majesty is over Israel,

and whose power is in the skies.

Awesome is God from his sanctuary;

the God of Israel– he is the one who gives power and strength to his people.

Blessed be God! (ESV)

The Lord God rules over all the kingdoms of the earth. He demands the worship of all people. Worship is to be given him by all kingdoms of the earth. Even the Gentiles are expected to worship God: O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God. Our God, who has given life to all, demands worship from all. He is a God who speaks, a God of majesty, a God of power, and a God who dwells in Israel, saving and empowering them.

In the prayer service, we’ll be meditating on John 17. The hymn we’re learning this month is King of Glory, King of Peace (Gray 66).

This week, we have the privilege of hearing from Roberto Coelho, missionary to Brazil. His text for this Sunday is 1 Corinthians 15:1-8. He will be preaching on “the importance of the gospel.”

Hymn 265 [Red] Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted This Sunday, we will both hear of the gospel in the preaching of God’s Word, and see the gospel at the Table. In this hymn, we will sing the gospel. I love the final stanza: Here we have a firm foundation, here the refuge of the lost; Christ the rock of our salvation, his the name in which we boast! Lamb of God for sinners wounded! Sacrifice to cancel guilt! None shall ever be confounded who on him their hope have built.
