I brought along my MP3 player to the Christmas Eve concerts last night, and have this to share with you this Christmas day. This is one of Bach’s organ settings to Nun Komm, Der Heiden Heiland. Please excuse my occasional jostling the recorder.

Viel Dank.
At our Christmas Eve service, we had much handbell music and choral music (mostly Bach chorales, but with an odd Fettke piece for sentimental measure), as well as a string quartet, but alas, no organ music save for the regular hymn accompaniment. A bit disappointing, now that I think of it, for the tradition that gave birth to such great music.
Many, many thanks for your recording. Merry Christmas.

You fanboy… did you post your cell phone video on YouTube for us, too? 🙂

When I get around a pipe organ, I get giddy.

Rumor has it he was in the front row, right arm extended, holding a votive candle and swaying …

That’s not even close . . .
I had both arms extended.

Charles,
Merry Christmas to you. It does not sound, based on your description of your service that you have too much to complain about.

True. But I realized what I really wanted for Christmas when I heard your gift.
